OK, I have to admit. We have the most handsome little Grandsons in the whole world and so I am at a distinct advantage in subject matter. Here is our precious little grandson number three. This oil on canvas, measures 8 x 10" and was given as a Christmas gift to our son-in-law.
Ruth Korch has always had a strong love for the interplay of script and illustration. Her unique works are in private collections across the country and continues to be available for commissioned work.
Ruth's works have been published in books, calendars, and greeting cards. She has been given top honors in national and international competitions:
"The mixing of text and image has always fascinated me. I love the different textures and the contrasts they create. I find much joy and fulfillment in expressing significant words through a creative merging of script and image."
Although she has primarily worked with watercolor, enjoying the softness and surprise it offers, she recently has enjoyed exploring oils, working both in portraiture and still lifes.
Ruth and her husband Steve have been married for 34 years and enjoy living in Santa Cruz, California. They have two daughters, two son-in-laws, a son, two grandsons and one very shaggy dog. They are currently working together on a joint publishing project.
